Angel Cortijo, Talent Specialist
Nobody ever knew this until now. I read this quote about eight years ago, and this became a part of who I am today. “It is so important as a caregiver not become so enmeshed in the role that you lose yourself. It’s neither good for you nor your loved one.”– Dana Reeve
I became a C.N.A. in 2009 in Peekskill, NY and have taken care of people ever since. I worked with various populations but my heart is with the people who are in need of that personal care with a touch of TLC. Here at Assisting Hands Home Care is where I learned and still learn all about home care in a different setting. My goal and focus is to push the mission statement through for Assisting Hands Home Care. Being with the company I have transitioned from Caregiver to Talent Specialist. As a Talent Specialist I can bring in the new caregivers that share the same vision as Assisting Hands Home Care. Whatever I can do to bridge Client and Caregiver together I’m there.
Angel’s interest and hobbies include enjoying life and putting smiles on people’s faces. I am a homebody and love gardening something I recently have gotten into. All around nice guy.

Karla Pileggi, Care Coordination Specialist
Karla started volunteering in a nursing home in her country (Venezuela) when she was 16 years old. That’s when she realized how passionate she was about helping the elderly. While in law school she continued to volunteer at the nursing home because it was where her heart was. Karla has been taking care of the elderly for over 20 years. She started with Assisting Hands as a Home Health Aide (HHA) but she knew she had to do more to help her elderly community so she became the Care Coordination Specialist (CCS) for Assisting Hands. As a CCS, Karla makes sure that the clients have the right care and the right caregiver every day. “I love what I do and I feel at peace at the end of the day knowing that I’m doing the right thing. I’m so blessed to be part of an amazing team,” Karla said.
Her hobbies are spending quality time with her family and her dog, Lucky. She enjoys fine dining, loves the simple things in life, and she is just a happy person.
She lives by this quote daily: “Our prime purpose in life is to help others, and if you can’t help them at least don’t hurt them.” ~ the Dalai Lama
