Our Ribbon Tying Ceremony!!!
What could be better than a room full of your closest friends, family, colleagues, and the mayor of your town? I’m pretty sure only a wedding can top the excitement and warmth that was felt at 1020 S. Arlington Heights Road last Wednesday evening!
Last May 24th marked the launch of Assisting Hands in Arlington Heights. A few snacks, drinks, lots of flowers, and one yellow ribbon later, and we are up and (officially running). Jim from The Arlington Heights Chamber of Commerce along with Mayor Tim Hayes performed the ribbon tying ceremony, which is meant to symbolically TIE new businesses to the city rather than cut the ribbon for a new business. My sister happened to walk in during the middle and later commented that it felt like she had just walked into a movie set. Boy, was she right. The mayor gave a lovely speech thanking Assisting Hands Home Care for choosing to locate in Arlington Heights and I was almost rendered speechless when he asked me to say a few words.
Who was in attendance, you ask? Just some of the most instrumental faces in our community who care for seniors. Guests from The Moorings, EHLS (Extended Life Home Serves), Care Navigators, Senior Solutions, Transitions Hospice, Gerontology students at Northeastern Illinois University among others who share a passion for helping older adults age in place.
It was more than just a party, but a welcoming of new friends!
