President and CEO
Lane Kofoed is President and CEO of Assisting Hands Home Care and leads the executive team with a diverse background, including public accounting, financial auditing, systems integration and management consulting for Price Waterhouse and other consulting firms. Kofoed previously held the position of Chief Operating Officer at Assisting Hands, working closely with the management team in sales, marketing, operations, training and support. Before joining Assisting Hands in June 2009, Kofoed owned several profitable small businesses in his native city Boise, Idaho.
Kofoed holds a Masters degree in Business and Accounting from Brigham Young University. He is the glue to the organization, shepherding and facilitating new and exciting programs that help Assisting Hands Home Care owners to be more efficient in their franchise operations while overseeing the national growth and success of the Assisting Hands Home Care family of franchises.
Founder/Member of Board of Directors
Dr. Gail Silverstein, the founder of Assisting Hands Home Care®, provides a wealth of knowledge with more than 25 years of experience in the health care industry. Silverstein’s knowledge and experience comes from the highly profitable home care business that she owned for over ten years, her personal experience caring for the elderly, which began with her aging father, and her professional experience in the health care industry, including senior management positions with various health plans such as Medicare and Medicaid long-term care plans. She is a published author in health care policy and management and has taught in the state university systems in both Florida and Arizona.
Silverstein has a Master’s degree in Health Administration and a doctorate in Public Administration. While a home care agency owner, she was a member of the National Private Duty Association (now the Home Care Association of America) and was a former Board President of Arizona’s NPDA Chapter. Silverstein is a member of the Assisting Hands Board of Directors, and remains actively involved with the organization.
Chief Operating Officer
Richard Ueberfluss serves as Chief Operating Officer of Assisting Hands Home Care’s national office and is responsible for the general management of the company. His franchise experience began in 2008 when he became Assisting Hands’ Chicagoland franchise owner and area representative.
Early in his career, Ueberfluss was a Board Certified Orthopedic/Certified Manual Physical Therapist. He spent almost 30 years as a Physical Therapist in hospital, outpatient, sports and home health care. From 2001-2008, he was acute care hospital administrator. Ueberfluss said he felt called to Assisting Hands because as a physical therapist he was limited as to how much he could help people. Being part of Assisting Hands and the caregiving industry, however, he is able to do more for people so they can remain safe in their own homes.
Director of Business Operations
Shana is a multi-disciplined healthcare professional and advocate for the aging that joined the Assisting Hands management team in 2007. While struggling through her own father’s illness in the last several years of his life, Shana clearly identified the need for better care in the community and as a result, discovered her calling. She has served the aging and disabled population during her career in Medicaid Finance, Skilled Nursing Administration, as a licensed Assisted Living Executive Director, and over the last 8 years, in Home Healthcare operations.
Shana’s 20 years of experience throughout the long-term care continuum leveraged her perfectly for her roll with Assisting Hands. Armed with a thorough understanding of the issues that face the aging population and a passion for easing the struggle for individuals and their families in relation to social, financial, and healthcare issues, Shana educates new and existing owners on the importance of delivering quality care, promoting dignity and respect, and fostering an environment of trust. Her in-depth knowledge of the regulatory requirements and provisions in relation to individual states, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), and Joint Commission accreditation as it pertains to acute, skilled, assisted, and home health care operations has made her an astute guide and mentor for the Assisting Hands family of franchise owners.
Shana is responsible for the full spectrum of business operations start-up, licensing, training, and ongoing guidance of each of the offices. In addition, Shana coordinates national partnerships on behalf of the franchise system to enhance core services, provides daily support to ensure each business owner thrives, and spends time in the field visiting the offices to offer additional hands on education and support.
Tyler serves as the Accounting Manager for the Assisting Hands Home Care national office. He oversees general bookkeeping, royalty collection, and annual retreat collections. He graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Brigham Young University-Idaho and a Master’s of Accounting from Boise State. Tyler compiles the annual internal audit information and financial statements and provides key financial information in regards to the financial health of current franchise owners allowing Assisting Hands to be proactive in helping franchisees meet their financial goals. He maintains the financial health and strategic planning of Assisting Hands and compiles the data for financial budgets and forecasting. Finally, Tyler ensures that Assisting Hands is compliant with all reports and local, state, and federal taxes.
Andrew was first hired as an Executive Assistant in 2016, but was quickly promoted to Franchise Manager because of his work ethic and his skills at process improvement. As Franchise Manager, Andrew focuses on improving the company’s systems and processes. He administers the mapping software, used to create franchise territories, as well as the soon-to-launch IFX franchise management software including building out the CRM, sales and royalty module, document repository, directory, and new training module, Assisting Hands University. He also manages franchise agreements, franchise renewals, Franchise Disclosure Documents, annual meetings and franchise expo events.
Andrew received a Bachelor’s in Business Management from Brigham Young University-Idaho and is currently going back to school for a Master’s degree in Business Administration.
Director of Training and Support Services for Eastern United States
Gail joined Assisting Hands to deliver operations training to new offices and additionally support the East coast offices in the daily operations. Her area of concentration includes all aspects of training and operational support; Gail undertakes and customizes needs assessments, identification, analysis, evaluation, coordination and the development and implementation of pre and post launch programs for franchisees. Gail provides proven methodology, tools and processes in order to create success.
Gail brings more than 26 years of passion and rich experience in the healthcare field, primarily in positions of leadership. Her most recent ten years have focused on Home Care. Gail’s extensive expertise as a former administrator for an Assisting Hands Home Care organization as well as the owner operator of her own home care agency assures a deep understanding of the challenges and solutions in the Home Health arena.
Gail enjoys spending time with her family, especially her two granddaughters. She enjoys traveling, particularly cruising. She is active in her church and enjoys volunteering in her community.
Director of Support Services for Western United States
Deanna is a passionate advocate for elders and has a B.S. in Community Health and a Certificate in Gerontology from Boston University. She has strong experience across the spectrum of aging care services with experience as a state protective service officer and multiple home care office administrator experience with Assisting Hands. She has first hand knowledge of the challenges our clients face each day as she has led her family through the process of care and services for her Grandmother who suffers with advanced stage Alzheimer’s. Deanna supports the West coast offices in all of their operations each day.
Director of Franchise Development
Ms. Wright is the Director of Franchise Development for Assisting Hands Home Care, where she is responsible for the development of Assisting Hands Home Care franchises both domestically and internationally.
Ms. Wright has been in the franchising industry for 30 years. During that time she has been a unit franchisee and master licensee, and has held various executive management positions with national and international franchisors. She has been a franchise development and sales consultant since 1994. Since 2001 she has been President of Innovative Franchise Services, a franchise consulting and development firm in Tucson, Arizona. She is a past president of the International Franchisee Advisory Council for Decorating Den Systems, Inc., and past president of the Arizona Licensor/Franchisor Association.
