Our Caregivers

To be an Assisting Hands caregiver, Assisting HandsĀ® Home Care Houston president and owner Terri Robbins first looks at a candidates desire and enthusiam for the helping people. Once she sees passion in a caregiver candidate, he/she are put through an extensive background check. Even though the state of Texas requires local, county and statewide screenings, Robbins takes the process further checking on national and international levels.

After passing the screening process caregivers candidates are trained on-site. Each is bonded, licensed, insured and trained in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) as well as first aid. Once screened and trained, the candidate begins his/her work for our client families. Our caregivers expand their knowledge and stay up to date on current developments in the caregiving field while earning continuing education credits each year. A good number are certified nursing assistants (CNA) who are looking for a change to provide care within a one-on-one relationship. Just as Robbins herself does, her home care staff enjoys providing in home care for the elderly and others who are temporarily in need of assistance.

To the benefit of our clients, Robbins' keen ability to attract caregivers who are passionate about their work has resulted in little turnover. Most Assisting Hands Houston caregivers -- both men and women -- have worked with us for two or more years. We can generally have a caregiver in the home of new client in 48 hours or less.
