Self Guided Historical Walking Tours
The Island Heights Girl Scout Troop 425 has created some self guided historical walking tours that seniors might enjoy. Perfect for those that want to go at their own pace. The troop worked with the Borough Clerk with the 1981 New Jersey Historic Sites Inventory of Island Heights as a starting point and access to earlier printed walking tours to create the self guided tour which was narrowed down from the more than 300 sites that were placed on the State and National Registers of Historic Sites to 84 which they really felt should be included. As they worked on the project, they realized that visiting that many sites would take much longer than one day to enjoy so they split it into 3 separate tours all of which will eventually be included at the link above. They include the Westray Tour (not yet included), the Riverfront Tour, and the Camp Meeting tour.
