Assisting Hands provides 24-hour live-in care for seniors and adults with disabilities in Arlington Heights, IL and the surrounding areas. Our round-the-clock, live in caregivers can help you live where you feel more comfortable-your own home.
How does a live-in caregiver work?
When you choose live-in home care, an Assisting Hands caregiver will live at your home with you. He or she will reside in a separate bedroom and stay for either 3 or 4 days out of the week, alternating with another Assisting Hands Caregiver. Having a live-in caregiver in your home 24/7 will give you peace of mind knowing that someone is there in case of an emergency. Others choose 24-hour live-in care when they want to stay in their own home but enjoy the company of another person.
Your live-in caregiver can help you out of bed in the morning and assist with your morning shower and breakfast routine. She can assure you take your medicine, drive you to appointments, and keep the house tidy. It’s like having your own live-in assistant, who will undoubtedly become like family. Live-in senior care is a great option for those returning home from a recent stay in the hospital, those suffering the loss of a spouse, or those who simply enjoy the company of another person.
What do you need to do to prepare the home for a live-in caregiver?
We simply ask that the live-in caregiver have a private space to sleep at night. By law, he or she is required to have at least 5 hours of uninterrupted sleep. The room can have a small area for her to keep belongs for a few days in your home.
At the change of shifts, each caregiver will wash the sheets and clean the room for the next live-in caregiver.
What’s the difference between 24 Hour care and live-in care?
24-hour home care means that the caregiver is awake and watching over you every hour of the day. The 24/7 caregiver does not need a separate room in your house and she will be “on” for the entirety of her shift. This acute level of care is necessary for those who are waking several times throughout the night or those who may wander or fall during nighttime hours. In these cases, we have 2 caregivers per 24-hour day, alternating 12-hour shifts, to ensure 24 hours of attentive care.
