Frying Pan preserves and displays a lifestyle of farming that dates back since the 1920s to the 1950s. This national park is one of the most popular and highly visited parks in the area of Fairfax County.
There are programs for children and adults that extend from birthday parties to wagon rides. This Park offers rental facilities, picnic shelters, a carousel, and a playground with a country store for shopping.
This park welcomes field trips from schools and Girl Scouts are year around. Frying Pan Meeting House or Frying Pan Old School Baptist Church which is another name it is known for. This historic building dates back to the 1700s, and the church building is located in Floris, Virginia within the Frying Pan Farm Park. This church building was built in 1791. The church building and the cemetery were both added to the National Register of historic places in 1991. The last trustee deeded the church building to the Fairfax County Park Authority for preservation in 1984. Another one of the main attractions in the park is Kidwell Farm. Kidwell Farm educates visitors on what farm life was like during the 1930s. The Farm raises many kinds of animals like horses and cows.
Frying Pan Farm Park offers a host of events such as the equestrian events that are hosted throughout the year located in the Activities Center. Inside is a riding arena with two outside rings based on what they used it for they are also known as the barn and stables or riding hall. They offer complimentary programs such as tack shops which are equestrian supply stores that buyers can purchase training aids, riding, and stable equipment. There is a riding school as well.
A 4H Club is located on the property as well. The club is a network of youth organizations that are engaging youth to reach their full potential by advancing in youth development. Its name is derived from the repetition of using the letter H four times. The organization’s motto is head, heart, hands, and health. This motto was later incorporated and was officially adopted in 1927.
