Special Service for Those Who Have Served
Veteran Care in Mercer, Monmouth and Ocean Counties
Veterans are extra-special clients to all of us at Assisting Hands Home Care. Veterans could be eligible for home care assistance and Assisting Hand is an authorized provider for the Department of Veteran’s Affairs (VA) through the Community Care Program. We also work with a local company, Veteran Care Services, to help veterans secure their benefits.
The VA Aid and Attendance program offers in-home care to veterans with personal care needs on a routine basis. A professional Assisting Hands caregiver can come and assist veterans and/or their spouses in taking care of themselves.
Our licensed, bonded and insured caregivers offer compassionate, quality care to help veterans age safely in their own homes. Stephen Hoelle, RN-BC, our director of nursing and an Army veteran himself, learns the specific needs of you or your loved one during an assessment and creates a care plan that covers those needs and supervises the caregivers to ensure the best outcome.
All enrolled (VHA Standard Medical Benefits Package) are eligible if they meet the clinical need for services. Our VA services include assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) and other daily tasks like light housekeeping, transportation, and meal preparation.
This program is also for veterans who are isolated, or their caregiver is experiencing a burden.
The VA offers a caregiver assessment.

Veterans are a very special group that we have the honor and privilege of working with. Caring for them requires special attention and skills to truly understand who they are and what their unique needs are. We hosted a webinar with Bob Haley, USMC veteran and veterans liaison at Kindred at Home where he explains military culture, identity and the differences in injuries.
