Senior Care in Boynton Beach FL

Senior Care in Boynton Beach FLBeing a family caregiver doesn’t have to be all about monitoring your elderly loved one’s health. You can have lots of fun together, too.

Keep a Game Going

Does your elderly loved one have a favorite game? Whether it’s a card game, a board game, or a puzzle, leaving a favorite game going can help your elderly loved one to have something to do when she’s feeling otherwise uninspired. It’s also a great way for you to spend time interacting even if you’re too busy to sit down for a full game at a time. when you have additional time, you can play together and when you don’t, it’s easy to make one or two moves at a time.

Set Aside Theme Days

Theme days allow you and your elderly loved one to get creative together. Once a week or once a month, you can pick a theme and have fun dressing up together, watching movies that fit the theme, or playing music that fits the theme. You can even do a combination of all of these activities. Other activities could include decorating the house in the theme or making foods that fit the theme.

Look at Old Photos Together

If you have old family photos, odds are that your loved one knows many of the stories behind them. Take out those old photo albums and see what kinds of family stories you and your loved one can uncover. You might be surprised at what you can learn about family members who you never got to meet in person.

Eat Favorite Foods Together

Does your loved one have some favorite foods that she doesn’t get to eat often? Perhaps there are secret family recipes that your loved one holds the secrets to making. Set aside some time for cooking together and enjoying the fruits of your labor.

Pick up a Hobby Together

Hobbies are a great way for both you and your elderly loved one to relax a bit. You can even pick up a hobby together that you’ve both been wanting to try. It’s a great way to bond with each other and if you take a class together, you can both get out of the house for a little while.

Ask your loved one’s senior care providers for more ideas that other care recipients have enjoyed to add even more variety to your list.
