Happy social work month! March 2018
“Through their commitment to bringing about positive social change, helping individuals of all ages thrive in their local environment and being an advocate for those who have lost their voice, social workers play a prominent role in improving the lives of those who need it most.” – https://uiu.edu/college-search/importance-social-work.html
Social workers are the heart of the community, and do so much to empower and work with individuals and families. A bit biased, our owner at Assisting Hands Home Care, Emmie Knox, is a Licensed Master Social Worker. Emmie is a UT Austin graduate with experience in medical social work and with the elderly population. We at assisting Hands are extremely proud to work closely with Austin’s finest social workers to ensure mutual clients’ success in aging in place and/or navigating growing needs.
From the absolute bottom of our hearts… thank you to all the social workers out there! Your hard work and dedication is noticed and is appreciated. We are lucky to work with you all… keep it up! If you know a social worker, please share a “thank you”, a high five, a pat on the back…
“Social workers are trained to look at situations in a holistic way, bringing people together with others and their communities to find ways to address pressing individual, group and societal problems such as hunger, affordable housing, equal rights for all and making organizations and government accountable. Social workers also follow the NASW Code of Ethics, which calls on members of the profession to enhance human well-being and help meet the basic needs of all people, with particular attention to the needs and empowerment of people who are vulnerable, oppressed, and living in poverty. As the nation commemorates Social Work Month in March, it is important for the public to recognize that the need for social workers to be strong advocates, champions and leaders is more important than ever.” (NASW)
