At Assisting Hands Home Care, we are always seeking opportunities to educate our caregivers and clients. As part of our commitment, our office manager, Rita Davis, participated in the 5th Annual Hospice & Palliative Care Discussion at the Five Star Premier Residences in Hollywood, FL.
About the Discussion
The purpose of the discussion was to highlight the differences between hospice care and palliative care. While they are both affiliated with providing comfort, palliative care can begin at the time the patient is diagnosed as well as during treatment. Hospice care on the other hand, begins after the treatment of the disease has stopped and focuses on keeping the patient comfortable for the remainder of their life.
The event was produced by FHI Communications, an organization whose mission is to inform, connect, and engage Florida healthcare professionals. They also seek to educate American healthcare consumers in current events related to the industry so they can receive higher value from their investment.
The panelists included members from each of the following organizations:
- Karen Kennedy, DO, Trustbridge
- Rabbi Frederick Klein, MPhil, BCC, Greater Miami Jewish Federation
- Rita Davis, Assisting Hands
- Susan Holtzman, Alzheimer’s Association Southeast Florida Chapter
All panelists were knowledgeable and excited to partake in the event as the turn out was a big success!
