Learn to Thrive
Dave Tasto
Meet our owner, Dave Tasto, Author of Thriving at Home – A Handbook for Preventing Hospital Stays. After witnessing the value of high-quality, individualized care provided by those caring for his grandmother, Dave was inspired to switch careers and launch Assisting Hands – Boston Northwest. He has channeled his experience as an engineer in program and product management toward directly affecting people’s lives by offering others the same level of care his grandmother had received.
In his book Thriving at Home Dave shares useful information for family caregivers on how to keep home as safe as possible, specific actions you can take to manage aspects of your health at home, common reasons why older adults use the emergency room, and how to reduce those incidents. Dave’s book also covers when going to the hospital is essential and how to prepare for a hospital stay in the COVID-19 era.
A critical element of maintaining health and happiness is to ensure that people are doing everything to prevent them from having a hospital stay, or repeated inpatient stays. Our goal is that each of our clients continues Thriving at Home while maintaining independence and happiness where they call home.
Not a Senior? Not a Problem!
Our home caregiver services are not just for seniors. We also provide care for younger clients in need of assistance. These young clients may all have a different diagnosis. For example, a 25 year old dealing with cancer, a 28 year old who fell off his mountain bike right out of college and is now a quadriplegic, a 34 year old who had a massive stroke during surgery and is now bed bound with high acuity needs, and a number of 50 year olds ranging from massive stokes to cancer.
