How does one find the appropriatte caregiver services?
Adults and children living with physical and cognitive disabilities wish to be independent and lead a full and productive life. But they can experience limitations to carry out essential activities of daily living. Sometimes the support from family and friends is not quite enough, and family members have to attend to their own personal and professional needs. That is where Assisting Hands Home Care can make all the difference with its in-home support.
When families decide to hire home-care services, they have often explored several alternatives. At this point, the question that most new clients ask is “How does it work in practice“?
Each client’s situation and needs are unique. We do not use one-size-fits-all formulas. Our intake processes are very detailed, performed by experienced nurses and complemented by site-safety evaluations. Together, these two assessments provide the elements we need to elaborate a client’s customized plan of care, as well as to select a caregiver whose experience and personality match the client’s needs. The client is in control: all aspects of a plan of care are discussed with the client and/or family members before services start.
But you may still be asking: how does it happen on a daily basis when services start? Check the page on a day in a client’s life. It is a collage of experiences of real-life clients and office-support situations. This is important: while a caregiver is at your home assisting you, a team of professionals is busy in the background, providing the managerial, educational and operational support our caregivers need to perform according to our quality standards and your expectations.
How are problems or unexpected situations handled? Our caregivers are human beings, fallible as anyone else. Can problems happen? Yes. Fortunately they are rare, but issues do happen along service provision. Can we guarantee 100% risk mitigation? Nobody can. However, we have structured processes and qualified office staff to deal with common and unusual situations that may arise. Click here to read a few questions from actual clients and how we handle them. If you have a question that is not on this list, our team would be happy to discuss it with you (and maybe add it to the page).
A few clients need occasional transportation to medical appointments and other events. We have an unusual transportation policy that fits our clients’ needs safely and satisfactorily. It is cheaper, more efficient and usually safer than the most common alternatives found among home care providers.
