Around-the-Clock Home Care from Assisting Hands
When elderly individuals make the decision to age in the comfort of their own homes, they have decided to maintain control of their lives and remain independent. But many senior citizens are unable to live at home without some sort of assistance or care to make it through every day.
For some elderly individuals, help may only be required for a few hours each day. For example, they may just need help keeping their home clean. Other seniors, however, may require daily assistance with grooming or bathing. For seniors who require more help, their families may feel uneasy knowing that they are home alone at night.
Assisting Hands Home Care in Glen Ellyn provides live-in and 24-hour care services. With these services, we can provide elderly individuals with a caregiver on a 24/7 basis so they are not alone at night. Our live-in and 24-hour care services can be paid for by long term care insurance.
Live-In Care Services
With Assisting Hands Home Care’s live-in care services, two caregivers are assigned to live at home with your loved one. A caregiver works a 3- to 4-day shift and then switches with the other caregiver.
The live-in caregiver addresses a variety of your loved one’s care needs. This includes helping with bathing, grooming, meal preparation, light housekeeping, getting in and out of bed, transportation, and more.
You and your family will have peace of mind knowing that a caregiver is always there to help your loved one at home.
In the morning, the live-in caregiver begins the day by waking up your loved one, helping him/her get up and out of bed, and assisting with his/her morning routine.
After your loved ones wash up and get dressed, our caregiver prepares breakfast and takes care of necessary tasks as the day goes on. Additionally, our caregivers make sure your loved one gets proper nutrients and takes necessary medication.
Caregivers are also prepared to provide your loved ones with transportation to wherever they need to go, whether it be getting to doctor’s appointments or picking up groceries. Furthermore, elderly individuals who were recently in the hospital or have lost their spouse would find a live-in caregiver to be very beneficial.
Preparing for a Live-In Caregiver
Live-in caregivers will live at your loved one’s home, so they will need a space to sleep and to keep personal content. The caregiver needs to be allowed five or more uninterrupted hours of sleep nightly. When switching shifts, the caregiver will clean up the space and prepare it for the other caregiver.
24-Hour Home Care — What You Need to Know
Assisting Hands Home Care’s 24-hour care services differ a bit from the live-in care services we provide. With our 24-hour home care services, a caregiver will still be at home with your loved one 24 hours a day and will be alert, awake, and available to help at all times.
Two caregivers will alternate working 12-hour shifts. This allows for constant care from caregivers who will always be awake and alert. This also means that the caregiver will not need a place to sleep because they don’t live in the home.
When families have elderly relatives who live by themselves, they may feel uneasy because no one is available to provide any assistance or respond to emergencies at night.
With Assisting Hands Home Care’s live-in and 24-hour care services, seniors will always have professional assistance from a caregiver.
