President and CEO

Lane Kofoed is President and CEO of Assisting Hands Home Care and leads the executive team with a diverse background, including public accounting, financial auditing, systems integration and management consulting for Price Waterhouse and other consulting firms. Kofoed previously held the position of Chief Operating Officer at Assisting Hands, working closely with the management team in sales, marketing, operations, training and support. Before joining Assisting Hands in June 2009, Kofoed owned several profitable small businesses in his native city Boise, Idaho.
Kofoed holds a Masters degree in Business and Accounting from Brigham Young University. He is the glue to the organization, shepherding and facilitating new and exciting programs that help Assisting Hands Home Care owners to be more efficient in their franchise operations while overseeing the national growth and success of the Assisting Hands Home Care family of franchises.
Founder/Member of Board of Directors
Dr. Gail Silverstein, the founder of Assisting Hands Home Care®, provides a wealth of knowledge with more than 25 years of experience in the health care industry. Silverstein’s knowledge and experience comes from the highly profitable home care business that she owned for over ten years, her personal experience caring for the elderly, which began with her aging father, and her professional experience in the health care industry, including senior management positions with various health plans such as Medicare and Medicaid long-term care plans. She is a published author in health care policy and management and has taught in the state university systems in both Florida and Arizona.
Silverstein has a Master’s degree in Health Administration and a doctorate in Public Administration. While a home care agency owner, she was a member of the National Private Duty Association (now the Home Care Association of America) and was a former Board President of Arizona’s NPDA Chapter. Silverstein is a member of the Assisting Hands Board of Directors, and remains actively involved with the organization.
Vice President
Gail joined Assisting Hands to deliver operations training to new offices and additionally support the East coast offices in the daily operations. Her area of concentration includes all aspects of training and operational support; Gail undertakes and customizes needs assessments, identification, analysis, evaluation, coordination and the development and implementation of pre and post launch programs for franchisees. Gail provides proven methodology, tools and processes in order to create success.
Gail brings more than 26 years of passion and rich experience in the healthcare field, primarily in positions of leadership. Her most recent ten years have focused on Home Care. Gail’s extensive expertise as a former administrator for an Assisting Hands Home Care organization as well as the owner-operator of her own home care agency assures a deep understanding of the challenges and solutions in the Home Health arena.
Gail enjoys spending time with her family, especially her two granddaughters. She enjoys traveling, particularly cruising. She is active in her church and enjoys volunteering in her community.
Director of Finance & Accounting
Tyler serves as the Accounting Manager for the Assisting Hands Home Care national office. He oversees general bookkeeping, royalty collection, and annual retreat collections. He graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Brigham Young University-Idaho and a Master’s of Accounting from Boise State University.
Tyler compiles the annual internal audit information and financial statements and provides key financial information in regards to the financial health of current franchise owners allowing Assisting Hands to be proactive in helping franchisees meet their financial goals. He maintains the financial health and strategic planning of Assisting Hands and compiles the data for financial budgets and forecasting. Finally, Tyler ensures that Assisting Hands is compliant with all reports and local, state, and federal taxes.
Director of Franchising & Technology
Andrew was first hired as an Executive Assistant in 2016 but was quickly promoted to Franchise Manager because of his work ethic and his skills at process improvement. As Franchise Manager, Andrew focuses on improving the company’s systems and processes. He oversees the mapping software used to create franchise territories. He managers multiple employees who offer franchisee support and technology training.
Andrew ensures company compliance and manages franchise agreements, franchise renewals and updating the Uniform Franchise Disclosure Document. He is also the committee chair for the annual franchisee training convention.
Andrew received a Master’s in Business Administration from Northwest Nazarene University and a Bachelor’s in Business Management from Brigham Young University-Idaho.
National Marketing Director
Catherine “Cate” Foster is a marketing specialist and consultant with over twenty years of marketing experience. She leads the national marketing and advertising for the Assisting Hands brand and helps each franchisee meet their business goals for growth. Her one-on-one consultant approach with each franchisee combined with her vast experience as a marketing executive lends itself to the support and service that ensures success.
Her passion for home care began when she was responsible for the care of her elderly mother who needed twenty-four-hour care. Cate relied on home care for several years and gained firsthand knowledge of the industry. She, along with her husband of 30 years have three children and six grandchildren.
Director of Support Services for Western United States
Deanna is a passionate advocate for elders and has a B.S. in Community Health and a Certificate in Gerontology from Boston University. She has strong experience across the spectrum of aging care services with experience as a state protective service officer and multiple home care office administrator experience with Assisting Hands. She has first hand knowledge of the challenges our clients face each day as she has led her family through the process of care and services for her Grandmother who suffers with advanced stage Alzheimer’s. Deanna supports the West coast offices in all of their operations each day.
Support Services Advisor
Marresa comes to Assisting Hands with over six years experience as a Home Care Director, including a start-up which was the first agency in North Carolina to offer both Home Care and Care Home services. She has a passion for seniors and in providing resources that guide families and caregivers in helping their loved ones age in place. In her current role, she provides support in business planning, marketing/sales, human resources and daily operations to our East Coast offices.
Director of Franchise Development
Mr. Durney became our Director of Franchise Development in San Diego, California and has
been since March 2019. Prior to this, Mr. Durney worked as the Franchise Development Director for
RedLine Athletic Franchising in Scottsdale, Arizona from May 2013 through October 2014. Prior to that,
Mr. Durney worked as a consultant with FranMaster in San Diego, California from November 2012 to
March 2019.
